Welcome to this course "Entrepreneurship in Food".

This is a course that is developed in collaboration of HSWT and our partner universities in Ethiopia, Kenya, Togo, and Tunesia.

The course covers 24 topics organized in 3 modules: Entrepreneurship, Business Development, and Food Processing.

This course is a self-learning course. It relies on your own motivation and willingness to work through the modules and engage with the topic. More important than achieving a certain number of points by rushing through the modules will be that you use this opportunity to learn to your own advantage. However, the course is designed in such a way that you should be able to finish it in one semester by working through the course material for 30 min per day and working on your assignments for another 30 min per day. You should be able to complete 1 - 3 lessons per week, some are shorter and some are more time consuming. This would be equivalent to 3 ECTs.

The assignments are designed to assist you think through the topics in more depths and to turn the theoretical knowledge into practical competences. If you follow all 3 modules and complete all assignments, by the end of this course you should have achieved a solid foundation to venture into your own food business.

The contributions from our African partner universities make sure examples and topics are also relevant to African conditions. We will provide opportunities to engage and exchange with other learners as much as possible. I hope you will enjoy the exposure to different teaching styles, voices, accents, colours, backgrounds, and experiences as much as we enjoy and value your contributions.

Leaves me to wish you lots of fun working through this course and success in developing your own entrepreneurship idea.

I am looking forward to working with you through this course. Don't hesitate to drop me a message if you have a question or problem with the course set-up.

All the best,

Anja Weber
