What is this lesson about?

We are almost at the end of this course. In the last lesson, we talked about food packaging. An improtant part of packaging is the label. In this lesson, we will look at the functions of food labeling and the different kinds of information that needs to be provided on a food label. Like allegen information for example, which is needed to keep people with food allergies safe. We will also look at some of the different materials and methods for lebeling food. In the Activities section we will try calculating the nutrient content of your food, as needed for the nutrient content information on a label, and under resources you can find a lot of information, e.g. on food additives.
At the end of this lesson, you should be able to correctly state the different functions of food labeling.
